Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj wanted to speak at her old high school in New York, but the principal decided to pass on the offer.

The artist sent out a tweet yesterday (Sept. 11) explaining the situation. "I wanted to go back to my HS and speak to the students but the new principal declined," she wrote. "No need for me to inspire them, I guess." In an interview with Teen Vogue from 2013, the rapper spoke about the impact that Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School had on her. "It was the first time I felt like I really fit in," she said. "Everyone there was creative. For once, I didn't feel like there was something weird about me."

Minaj tweeted a similar sentiment yesterday as well. "That school changed my life and I wanted to pay it forward to the students there now. I was really looking forward to it," she wrote. According to the New York Daily News, the Department of Education in New York City is looking into the unfortunate incident.

In other Minaj news, the rapper's single "Anoconda," which was posted to Vevo on Aug. 19, quickly broke the record for most views in 24 hours. The video of Minaj and other women showing off their ass-sets and rapping to a Sir Mix-A-lot-sampled track received about 19.6 million hits on the first day. Mix-A-Lot, famous for his booty-loving anthem "Baby Got Back," had one word to describe the video in a tweet: "DAMNNNNN!!!!!!"

"Anaconda" beat out former champion, Miley Cyrus, whose "Wrecking Ball" video pulled in 19.3 million views in its first 24 hours. It is set for a November 24 release.
