Usher's Super Bowl Halftime performance is the most watched performance ever in history. The R&B crooner, however, credits the grand spectacle of his show to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

Usher, who has publicly confessed his admiration and love for Michael Jackson, continues to credit him for revolutionizing the way.

Usher Super Bowl Performance Inspired By Michael Jackson

Speaking to The New York Post, Usher explained how Michale Jackson inspired his Super Bowl Halftime show performance.

"He absolutely revolutionized the experience like no other," Usher told the publication. "He changed how people perceived the halftime show [because before Jackson] it was just kind of hiring, you know, local performers or whatever it might be ... I really did respect that."

Usher's Super Bowl halftime performance was watched by more than 123 million viewers across the United States.

Talking about his performance, Usher said that the moment is a "celebration."

"Not just for myself but for 30 years of people who have supported me, supported my journey, supported my choice of conversation," he went on to say. "I'm celebrating that, you know?"

Super Bowl Viewers Not Because of Usher?

Nielsen and Adobe Analytics revealed that the NFL match against the 49ers and the Chiefs averaged 123.4 million viewers across television and streaming platforms, breaking the 115.1 million viewers last year between the Chiefs and the Eagles, with a 7% increase. (via Time Magazine)

CNN pointed out that the 2024 Super Bowl telecast was "so large" that it almost neared the all-time most-watched television broadcast, the iconic Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969 which had an average estimate of 125 to 150 million viewers.

Nielsen also recorded that around 202.4 million people watched "at least part of the game across all networks," which was a 10% increase from the 2023 match.

Meanwhile, a poll revealed that 82% of the people who watched the Super Bowl watched the halftime show but it seemed that it was Taylor Swift who drove the viewership to an all time high. In a poll generated and analyzed by consumer research firm Numerator, it was revealed that 20% of 2024 Super Bowl viewers were rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs because of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's relationship.
