Recently, the singer behind a popular television show theme song has addressed the controversy surrounding Beyonce's latest track, "Texas Hold' Em," and its alleged resemblance to a beloved animated series theme.

Devoted fans of the singer have raised concerns about the similarities between Beyonce's country hit and the theme song of a well-known Canadian educational children's show called "Franklin," inspired by the adventures of "Franklin the Turtle"as depicted in a series of books.

Is Beyonce A Copycat?

Following Beyonce's groundbreaking achievement as the first Black woman to claim the top spot on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, "Texas Hold' Em" soared to number one.

Since the release of the new song, fans and reviewers, per The Mirror, have had a growing discussion regarding the resemblance between the "Franklin" theme tune and the "Single Ladies" singer's latest hit.

Comments have poured in with observations like, "The Texas Hold' Em beat seems to be taken from the Franklin cartoon," shared by a user on X, formerly Twitter, and another noting, "Whenever I listen to Texas Hold' Em, I can't help but think of 'Hey it's Franklin'."

In another instance, a commenter said, "I recently caught a radio segment discussing the similarity between Beyonce's track inspired by Texas Hold' Em and the theme tune of the famous Franklin the Turtle animated series."

"The suggestion was that Beyoncé or her team may need to shell out around $25 million to borrow from the cartoon's melody."

'Texas Hold Em' vs. 'Franklin' Theme Song

Recently, the creator of the iconic Franklin theme song, Bruce Cockburn, shared that he has no intention of asserting rights over the popular country tune.

In a statement to TMZ, Cockburn expressed his admiration for Beyonce's track "Texas Hold' Em," stating, "I believe it's a solid record."

In his statement, he remarked: "Although the rhythmic vibe may bear some resemblance to the theme song I composed for the 'Franklin' TV show, 'Texas Hold' Em' truly embodies her unique sound. I sincerely hope for nothing but success with her latest song!"

Following the recent celebration by the BeyHive community, Beyonce achieved a groundbreaking milestone in country music.

She dethroned Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgrave's long-standing chart-topper, "I Remember Everything," after its impressive 20-week reign.

Beyonce surprised her fans during the Super Bowl event by announcing her upcoming country-infused album set to be released in March. Referred to as "Act II" of "Renaissance," the new album is eagerly anticipated and is scheduled to drop on March 29.
