Selena Quintanilla's killer, Yolanda Saldívar, is looking forward to her parole eligibility decades after 1995 fatal shooting.

Saldívar will be eligible for parole in March 2025 decades after she was sentenced to a life sentence for killing Quintanilla. The convicted individual, who served as Selena's fan club president, has insisted the shooting was an accident as she branded herself a political prisoner.

Selena's Killer Begs for Parole

Speaking with the New York Post, a relative of Saldívar insisted she did not do anything wrong since the shooting was reportedly accidental.

"Enough is enough," the relative continued. "She feels like she's a political prisoner at this point. She's ready to get out of jail because she believes she has more than served her time."

While Saldívar fears for her safety if she gets approved for release after the March 2025 hearing, she reportedly wants to be freed "because she deserves it."

Saldívar broke her silence for the first time in the recently released documentary, "Selena and Yolanda: The Secrets Between Them," during which she called out the unfair trial in the case despite being innocent.

In a prison interview for the documentary, the convicted killer said she was "convicted by public opinion" long before the trial even started.

She made shocking claims about Selena as she dismissed the accusations about her embezzling funds from the singer. In the material, Saldívar admitted to signing checks at Selena's request since she was reportedly tasked to buy the singer a plane ticket to Mexico to visit a plastic surgeon whom she had an alleged affair with.

How Did Selena Die?

Selena was only 23 years old when she passed away. She was working on her album, "Dreaming of You," when she decided to confront Saldívar over the alleged $30,000 embezzled money and after failing to send fans the items they bought from her fashion brand.

On March 31, 1995, Selena attempted to regain the records from her former fan club president by visiting her at a Days Inn motel in Corpus Christi. The encounter led Saldívar to shoot her in the back using a 38-caliber revolver.

Associated Press said the single shot shattered an artery in Selena's collarbone before exiting her chest. The gunshot wound affected her brain function, though responders were still able to rush her to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead.
