Slipknot teased fans that they are working with a new drummer just in time for their next gig, the Sick New World Festival on Apr. 27.

According to Loudwire, the band shared a picture of a broken drumstick on their social media platforms with the caption "rehearsal."

The picture got Slipknot's fans talking, as many began to guess who might be the band's newest live drummer.

"Eloy's stick," one wrote, sharing a picture of Eloy Cadagrande's drum sticks, which looked similar to the one in the post.

"100% Eloy's signature sticks," another added.

Meanwhile, others joked about the situation: "how long until you fire the new drummer?"

"Did you fire the new drummer for breaking the stick or what."

"Wishing your new drummer the best of luck for his 1½ year gig until he gets fired," another jested.

Slipknot Fires Previous Drummer Jay Weinberg

Slipknot had to scramble to look for a new drummer after letting go of their previous drummer, Weinberg. They did not state the reason, just the fact that it was necessary for creativity purpose.

After founding drummer Joey Jordison left Slipknot in 2013, Weinberg joined the group in 2014. This is not Slipknot's first lineup change of the year; earlier in the year, the band also fired pianist and sampler Craig "133" Jones.

Weinberg has since joined another band, Suicidal Tendencies; "When I think of the culture and community of heavy music that I've loved and considered my creative home for 20 years, I think of Suicidal Tendencies: a foundational pillar and source of inspiration ever since I fell in love with punk, metal, and hardcore,' Weinberg wrote in a post, announcing that he joined a new band.

According to reports, Slipknot announced they will be parting ways with the drummer in 2023 after 10 years.

"No one can ever replace Joey Jordison's original sound, style, or energy, but Jay honored Joey's parts and contributed to the last three albums, and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it. But, as ever, Slipknot is intent on evolving,' the now-deleted announcement read.
