Fans have hailed that Ryan Gosling's now-iconic "I'm Just Ken" number at the 2024 Oscars would go down as one of the most legendary performances in the show's history.

Unbeknownst to many, Gosling had to prepare a lot to put on such a spectacular show that even director Martin Scorsese had a good time.

Ryan Gosling Preparations for 'I'm Just Ken' Revealed

Speaking to Variety, Oscars producer Molly McNearney gushed at Ryan Gosling's showstopping "I'm Just Ken" performance at the 2024 Oscars.

"Ryan Gosling is a true professional, that man - we met with him on Zooms months ago, talking about that performance," she raved. "Greta Gerwig weighed in creatively as well. He was so committed to it. His choreographer, Mandy Moore, is exceptional - she was on all the calls. So was Mark Ronson."

For those who still do not know, Gerwig directed the Oscar-nominated "Barbie," Ronson produced the chart-topping "Barbie: The Album" and wrote the song, and Moore, not to be confused with the actress, is a renowned choreographer on Taylor Swift's "The Eras" Tour.

Per McNeary, Gosling's idea was to make the performance a tribute to "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend" from the cult classic 1953 film, "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes."

"That's where the pink suit, and everybody else in black came from - and the stairs in the back. And we had an homage to the candelabra girls: We had Ken-delabra men," Moore said in an interview with Variety.

Apparently, Gosling's brain was all over the performance - thinking and changing things as rehearsals went by.

"He was pretty clear about his overall structure of it," Moore added. "He wanted to start in the audience, come up see Mark, see Andrew [Wyatt the co-producer], ignite the Ken-delabras and then join the 10 dejected Kens on the stairs. From there he wanted the rest of the number to evolve as if Kens were coming from everywhere, 'Calling All Kens.' Eventually ending in a huge celebration revealing Slash."

Guitarist Slash and Wolfgang Van Halen were also at the stacked performance, along with the other Kens from the movie, including Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Scott Evans, and Kingsley Ben-Adir.

In Mandy Moore's interview, she also noted that Gosling wanted to include America Ferrera, Margot Robbie, and Greta Gerwig in the performance, which eventually made the cut. Even his "La La Land" co-star Emma Stone was included!
