Christina Perri gained notice more than a decade ago with the release of "A Thousand Years," which was featured on the official soundtrack of the movie The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1.

However, the singer took a break from creating music to raise awareness for other women and focus on her life as a mom.

According to People magazine, the musician went on hiatus for eight years before releasing her comeback single in 2022.

During those years, the singer suffered from tragic losses as she miscarried her baby in 2020, then her daughter Rosie was "born silent" after Perri was hospitalized when she was over eight months pregnant.

After the death of Rosie, the singer, who also became popular for her song "Jar of Hearts," discovered that she has a blood-clotting disorder that can be treated. Her medical condition was what possibly caused her two pregnancy losses.

The outlet noted that to determine this health issue, a woman can be screened during her first trimester of pregnancy.

However, the standard protocol by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists is for women to get tested only after they experience two early pregnancy losses.

Today, the singer continues to work to raise awareness for other women and change the protocol.

"While I'm waiting for the actual policy to change and for the protocol to change - that takes so long- so like word of mouth is it. So I feel like that's what I'm working on right now," she said in an interview.

She further noted that she witnessed it first-hand from people who got tested early on, and she revealed that it feels "so worth it" to see how many babies have been saved.

Christina Perri Updates

Although the entire Twilight Saga was released years ago, Perri said in the interview that she still watches the five-part movies to this day. Whether she's at home or on the road, she revealed that she would not change the channel if she came across one of the films while channel surfing.

The last time she watched all five films in one sitting was in 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic.
