Since "Wicked" director Jon M. Chu announced that Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande would play Elphaba and Glinda in the upcoming movie musical adaptation of the Broadway hit, everyone knew it would be big.

Erivo and Grande have since become the closest of friends, to the point that they even got matching "Wicked" tattoos to immortalize their friendship.

The two have spoken about each other's voices separately on many occasions in the past, and they can't seem to get enough of it.

Cynthia Erivo Hypes Up Ariana Grande Vocals in 'Wicked' Movie

Speaking to Vanity Fair about the upcoming movie musical Wicked, lead stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo also sat with the publication to discuss each other.

"I just need to say that I don't think people realize that she's got the chops," Erivo told the publication while clasping onto Grande's hand. The Grammy-winning pop star looked away as she got emotional at Erivo's praises.

"I don't think people realize how brilliant this person's brain and voice and talent is," Grande responded. "She's my favorite female voice. When I was watching you sing at the Oscars, I said, 'I hope someday I get to sing with her.'."

It will be an incredibly daunting experience for both of them because they would be the first to bring "Wicked" into the cinemas. Tony-winning icons Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth originated the role on Broadway, and the musical has since become a cult classic for two decades, even today.

"Our voices are very different, as you know, but for some reason when we sing, they sound like one voice. We discovered it when we were rehearsing and singing together," Erivo revealed. "We work really well together."

Describing the revelation to be "surprising" and "amazing," Erivo admitted that to this day, they get "astounded" by how similar their voices work together.
