In a terrorist attack that is eerily similar to the 2015 Paris mass shooting at an Eagles of Death Metal concert, at least 60 people were killed and more than 100 were injured at a concert hall in Russia, according to NBC News.

The popular Russian rock band Picnic were set to play a sold out show at Crocus City Hall, where the attack took place. Along with the shooting, fires have also broken out at the venue, which has a capacity of about 9,500 and was reportedly sold out.

According to CNN, ISIS has taken responsibility for the attack in a statement published on Telegram.

The news of the Russia attack brings back memories of the 2015 terrorist attack at the Bataclan theater during an Eagles of Death Metal concert. That mass shooting by Islamic extremists occurred while the band was on stage and left 90 dead, including the band's tour manager. It was the deadliest of seven different attacks in Paris that day that killed a total of 130.

Though the band was shaken by the attack the killed their fans, Eagles of Death Metal returned to Paris three months later to finish the concert that was interrupted by the massacre.

In the trial over the attack, Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes said, "Evil did not win," before quoting Ozzy Osbourne by adding, "You can't kill rock and roll."

Other musicians have also paid tribute to those lost in the Bataclan terrorist attacks. Earlier this month singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who is experiencing belated success with the song "Murder on the Dancefloor" after its inclusion in the film Salt Burn, remembered the tragedy.

"It didn't feel right to me to just waltz into a song called 'Murder on the Dancefloor' without noting and paying tribute to the history," she said during her show at the Bataclan, per Sky News. "The whole intention of that song, like this venue, is to bring joy and music on to the dancefloor," she explained.

"So, in tribute to that spirit, and in tribute to everybody who has ever danced right here at the Bataclan, this is 'Murder on the Dancefloor.'"
