Sheryl Crow is a bona fide pop and country rock icon. As her longevity in the music industry continues to grow, many up-and-coming artists have been inspired by her career and her music.

Among them is Olivia Rodrigo, whom the 62-year-old rocker has since grown fond of.

Sheryl Crow Sees Herself in Olivia Rodrigo

Talking about her recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction last November 2023, Sheryl Crow gushed about playing with Olivia Rodrigo and Stevie Nicks and being in the same class as Willie Nelson.

According to Crow, she wouldn't have performed that night without Stevie Nicks, with whom she performed "Strong Enough" with.

"Not to downplay the award, but if not for (Stevie), I would not be doing what I'm doing," she told USA Today. "I'm still a child looking up to this rock star."

The feeling she still has with the former Fleetwood Mac singer is the same one with Olivia Rodrigo.

"I feel that way with Olivia. I somewhat see myself in what she's doing. She loves seeing herself get better as a songwriter and that was me when I was young," she added.

Crow also performed with Rodrigo and rocked the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2023 induction ceremony with a fantastic performance of "If It Makes You Happy." Their duet was received well by Crow's fans and the audience in general.

Sheryl Crow Raves About Olivia Rodrigo

This is not the first time that Sheryl Crow talked fondly about Olivia Rodrigo. Ahead of their performance, she told Entertainment Tonight that working with the "Vampire" hitmaker was "really cool."

"I mean, you know, I got to sort of lift her up a little bit, because she's got a new record [out]... I know how hard the second record is, the sophomore. You're competing with the success of your first record, and she nailed it," Crow said of Rodrigo's second album, "GUTS."

Crow, a celebrated songwriter herself, left Rodrigo a piece of advice that she knew would help the young artist in her songwriting journey.

"I said, you know, 'If you can, just write down one sentence every day, of what happened during that day, because you will someday look back [at] this, and try to remember all the things.'" she advised. "The other thing [I told her] is to just stay in the work and stay out of the chatter. That's a major thing."
