American Idol has been giving a platform to countless musicians for years because some of its winners and former contestants went on to have their solo careers, but not all of them were successful; could this be a curse?

According to Taste of Country, the curse surrounding the reality TV singing competition is when a winner gets to release their music, but the song doesn't hit the charts.

Fortunately, someone seemed to have broken the long-running curse. Chayce Beckham, the show's 19th season winner in 2021, dominated the charts and even took the number one spot with his song "23."

He was the first winner to succeed in terms of numbers since Phillip Phillips released his hit track "Home" in 2012.

Not only that, Beckham was also the first country winner since Carrie Underwood, who got an airplay No. 1 after competing on the show.

"Is that true? That's crazy, that's wild," he said.

He further gave details about the song's conception, saying, "I feel like when I wrote that song, it was just me telling my truth and talking about what I wanted to talk about, and not in a million years did I ever think the whole world was gonna hear this song and it would be this big ole' song."
