Keith Urban was chosen as one of the mega mentors for this season of The Voice, and it's only fitting that he has already become a coach for the Australian edition of the reality TV singing competition. The musician recently spoke about how he also sought advice from others when he started.

According to Billboard, the musician is set to help contestants of the 25th season of The Voice for their Knockout Rounds, which will begin on April 8.

In an interview with the outlet, the singer said he felt a "family vibe" on the show as he loved working with the current roster of coaches like Reba McEntire, John Legend, Chance the Rapper, and Dan + Shay.

In the conversation, the country legend shared how he advises people: "You have to meet each artist where they're at. What's consistent is knowing what advice to take or to discard."

He noted that some artists get a lot of comments to change or switch up things in their music, but Urban defended that sometimes, people don't have to change anything at all.

"You have to keep working and make a better version of what already is," he added.

Keith Urban Sought Advice From People Throughout His Career

Before he reached legendary status, Keith Urban was once a struggling artist who had difficulty finding his sound.

However, he noted that some people helped him along the way, but not all the advice he received was good because there were times when others could be biased toward his music positively or negatively.

Urban was also hesitant to get advice from friends and family because people were "jealous" of him and might give him opinions that were "not very good."

"Having people around me that I really, really trust their opinions helped the most in my career," he added.

Keith Urban's Early Beginnings

Long before becoming a well-known musician, Keith Urban also struggled in the beginning in marketing himself.

In an interview with Taste of Country Nights, On Demand, he mentioned that there was a time when he did a radio tour, and it was a grueling experience for him because nobody cared about who he was.

Regardless, the singer was triumphant as he made a name for himself and became one of the most iconic musicians ever.
