EGOT-winning singer John Legend may have had an expansive discography, but much of his success can be attributed to his hit 2013 song "All of Me."

The song, which has since been certified 14-times platinum in the United States, gave Legend a feeling he was going to be big in the future.

In a video interview with People magazine, Legend reflected on several moments in his life and music career, including the success of "All of Me."

According to Legend, he's always happy to perform the song.

"You never know what's going to happen with songs. I had a feeling it was going to be successful. I told my label, 'Keep working on it,'" the "Ordinary People" singer told the magazine. "This is going to be my biggest song if we do it right. It took a long time ... It came out in August of 2013 and didn't hit No. 1 on the charts until, I think, May of 2014."

At the time, Legend's slow ascent to the top was the longest wait for an artist's first No. 1 song since their first chart appearance since Snoop Dogg waited 10 years and 10 months. Legend first appeared in the genre-blending charts in 2004 with Kanye West and Slum Village on "Selfish."

"All of Me" has become a wedding staple thanks to its heartwarming lyricism and accepting message. Legend's love story with his wife Chrissy Teigen inspired the song.

"I'm grateful that this song has had this much impact and that people want to hear it, and that people want to sing along with it at my shows," Legend said. "I'll never get tired of singing it."

Legend also revealed in the video interview that the "All of Me" music video was shot a day before he married Teigen in September 2013.

"Nabil Elderkin, the same guy who directed the video where we met, he was the director of this video as well," Legend shared. "We went to Lake Como a little bit early and shot the video on the Thursday and Friday before we got married. We finished the shoot, we get ready for our rehearsal dinner, and then the next day we get married."

Although the song has received a Grammy, Legend earned a Best Pop Solo Performance nomination at the 2015 Grammy Awards.
