Courtney Love was not born to impress people.

The Hole frontwoman spoke with The Standard, during which she made controversial comments about female artists. Though she supported other musicians, the public criticized her for her "unsolicited" statements.

Courtney Love Does Not Care About Being Hated On

In the same interview with The Standard, Love opened up about being perceived as difficult before explaining that she does not aim to be liked by everyone.

"People used to say that I was so difficult," she said. "They said I was disagreeable. Yes, I am completely disagreeable and I'm never going to apologize for that. I always wanted to be known as a bitch. Being liked was never my thing."

The "Falling to Pieces" singer noted that her late husband, Kurt Cobain, wanted to be liked. However, she reportedly never dreamed of being in that same boat.

"He was able to hide behind me, but then I got hated. Then Kurt died, and the hatred towards me reached a completely new level. I did not plan for that," she continued. "I had a bitch capacity and I was cool with not being liked. I saw Bob Dylan in Don't Look Back and he didn't want to be liked and I thought, yeah, I want to be like that."

When the Nirvana lead vocalist died, there were conspiracy theories claiming Love had something to do with his passing.

The theories were later debunked after the Seattle Police Department concluded he had died from a self-inflicted shotgun wound. A suicide note was also retrieved from the scene.

Courtney Love Receives Hate Again

After previously suffering following Cobain's death, Love triggered music fans when she discussed the female artists she loves - and hates.

She said Taylor Swift "was not important" and "not interesting" despite being the Madonna of her generation. She also shared similar comments regarding Lana Del Ray, Madonna and Beyoncé.

"I mean, I like the idea of doing a country record because it's about Black women going into spaces where previously only white women have been allowed, not that I like it much. As a concept, I love it. I just don't like her music," Love said of Beyoncé.
