In the wake of Taylor Swift's latest album release, The Tortured Poets Department, fans have been buzzing about the possible football-themed references in one of the songs, potentially alluding to her relationship with Travis Kelce.

Titled "The Alchemy," the song quickly gained popularity after the album dropped at midnight on April 19.

The verses within the song's bridge particularly stand out for their allusions to Kelce.

'The Alchemy' Lyrics

The lyrics go, "Chiefs chanting 'cause they said / There was no chance / Trying to be the greatest in the league / Where's the trophy? / He just comes running over to me."

In the chorus, Swift continues to sing, "Touchdown / Call the amateurs and cut them from the team / Ditch the clowns, get the crown, baby I'm the one to beat / Cause the sign on your heart said it's still reserved for me / Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?"

In different sections of the song, there are mentions of "blokes warming the benches."

The ballad focuses on the male figure in her world.

It's worth noting that Swift's relationship with Kelce became public in September 2023 during a memorable outing to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play against the Chicago Bears.

Swifties' Knew Early

Hints about the song's content may have reached fans well before the album's official release.

Reports started making rounds on Thursday, April 18, that Swift's latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, had been leaked a day before schedule.

Early-bird fans who got a sneak peek believe Kelce inspires at least this one track. "The Alchemy" contains various allusions that fans believe are connected to the well-known tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.

One X, formerly a Twitter user, said, "There is one beautiful surprise - The Alchemy is about Travis! References touchdowns, teammates, trophies and how they had an instant connection they couldn't resist."

Kelce Heard TTPD First

As Kelce was gearing up for the Super Bowl in Las Vegas in February 2023, Kelce shared his excitement about the then-upcoming album release of his girlfriend.

Kelce mentioned listening to a few tracks from Swift's most recent album.

The athlete told reporters during that time, via Us Weekly, "I have heard some of it, and yes, it's unbelievable."

"I can't wait for her to shake up the world when it finally drops."

This wasn't the first time Swift gave a nod to her boyfriend.

During her Eras Tour visit to Argentina, Swift dedicated a special rendition of her song "Karma" to Kelce, who was present in the audience.

This heartfelt gesture marked another occasion when the 14-time Grammy winner expressed her affection for him through her music, showcasing the depth of their romance through song.

Swift dives into the ups and downs of her past relationships on her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, touching upon her short-lived romance with Matty Healy and the end of a significant six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn.
