Sammy Hagar, also known as the Red Rocker, will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next Tuesday, April 30. His will be the 2,779th star on the coveted Los Angeles sidewalks, which sees millions of visitors each year. He will receive the honor in the category of Recording. 

The event will be hosted by star-holder Guy Fieri, a restauranteur and host of Food Network shows like Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Singer John Mayer and Tom Consolo, Hagar's longtime manager, will also speak at the ceremony. 

Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame gave high praise to Hagar, saying that "The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to honor rock legend Sammy Hagar for his contributions to the world of Rock & Roll music."

In 2007, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen. He was awarded the Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance in 1996 for his song "The Seventh Seal." He was previously nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocal for "Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" and Best Album of Original Score Written for a Motion Picture or a Television Special for Footloose

"From his humble beginnings in Fontana, California to strolling the Hollywood Walk of Fame as a young boy, he has truly come a long way!" Martinez continued. 

Hagar boasts a prolific career both in bands and as a solo artist with 25 RIAA platinum-certified albums and over 50 million sales globally. He earned his first hit in 1984 with "I Can't Drive" after playing with Montrose in the 1970s. He served as the lead vocalist of Van Halen for several years, starting in 1985 and singing for the band on and off until 2005. He is credited with some of the "greatest rock anthems ever written" with hits like "Right Now" and "Why Can't This Be Love."

In 1990, the rock star entered a new chapter of his career when he opened the flagship Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

He later created Cabo Wabo Tequila before moving on to produce Sammy's Beach Bar Rum, Santo Spirits, Sammy's Beach Bar Cocktails and Red Rocker Brewing Company. 

Los Cabos honored him with the title of Honorary Ambassador of Los Cabos, Mexico because of his contribution to the economic development and promotion of Los Cabos and Mexico at large. He is the first recipient of the award. 

"In recognition of Mr. Hagar's incredible commitment to Los Cabos and our new partnership, we are thrilled to honor him with this unprecedented role in championing Los Cabos as a prestigious travel and business destination," said Oscar Leggs Castro, the Municipal President of Los Cabos, in 2022.

Now, Hagar is the lead singer of Chickenfoot as well as Sammy Hagar and the Circle. He also hosts Rock and Roll Road Trip with Sammy Hagar on AXS TV. He has published three books: Sammy Hagar's Cocktail Hits: 85 Personal Favorites from the Red Rocker, Are We Having Any Fun Yet? and Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock.

Hagar has an exciting summer approaching. Next month, he will open Sammy's Island, a "sun-filled oasis" that will "bring a vibrant blend of food, spirits, and live music to make days and nights come alive" at Palms Casino Resort. 

In June, he'll celebrate the grand opening of Stage Red, a new venue in Fontana renamed after his Red Rocker persona. As a part of his naming rights agreement, Hagar will perform one annual concert at the venue for five years. 

The rocker will join Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham and Joe Satriana for the Best of All Worlds Tour which runs from mid-July through the end of August.
