It seems like Rihanna and Jay Z's planned Thursday Night Football spot will not end up seeing the light of day. Following CBS pulling the spot and Rihanna's resulting slam on the network and NFL, a new song has been chosen to lead into the weekly broadcasts.

According to The Los Angeles Times, CBS Sports announced that it has chosen a different song for its Thursday Night Football series.

"Beginning this Thursday, we will be moving in a different direction with some elements of our 'Thursday Night Football' open," it said in a statement. "We will be using our newly created 'Thursday Night Football' theme music to open our game broadcast."

The new theme music follows CBS pulling the planned Rihanna, Jay Z and Don Cheadle spot during the Sept. 11 broadcast, which featured Ray Rice's former team, the Baltimore Ravens. Rice is now banned from the NFL after video surfaced of him hitting his then fiancé, now wife Janay Rice in an elevator.

The NFL pulled the spot due to Rihanna's own connection to domestic violence - she was notoriously beaten by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown in 2009 on the way to a Grammys party.

Following the pull, Rihanna blasted the NFL and CBS on Twitter, saying they're "sad for penalizing" her due to the NFL's own mistakes regarding domestic violence.

It's unclear whether Rihanna refused CBS the rights to her song or if the channel made the decision on its own.
