Jon Bon Jovi recently admitted that he "got away with murder" after cheating on his wife, Dorothea Hurley.

"I'm not saying that there weren't 100 girls in my life. I'm Jon Bon Jovi," said the self-professed "rock n' roll star" in an interview with ABC. He admitted that he is "not a saint."

This admission directly contradicts an earlier statement from Bon Jovi in a 2010 interview with Men's Health, in which he said, "I don't have a mistress on the side or another family across town. You're never going to read that story about me."

Bon Jovi and Hurley married in 1989, having met in high school in 1980. Both attended Sayreville War Memorial High School in New Jersey, where they dated on and off until eloping in Las Vegas in 1989. The two "ran off to Las Vegas. Didn't tell a soul," said Bon Jovi.

Bon Jovi and Hurley have four children: Stephanie Rose, Jesse James Louis, Jacob and Romeo. The rockstar has admitted to missing "tons of birthdays and school plays."

Bon Jovi says that Hurley understands him and his lifestyle.

"But it's not like Dorothea came in halfway through the movie and didn't know who she got and the divorce settlement is this because of that. She's been in it the whole game. She understands what it means. It's my life, and it is what it is," he said.

Bon Jovi has publicly deemed himself "no saint" at least three times. However, each time he includes praise for his wife. Most recently, he expressed his gratitude for "what she did to keep the kids right, what she does to keep me right, what we do together to keep it right."

Speaking to the Independent, Bon Jovi declared his misbehaviors as part of "the wonderful clichés of rock stardom."

He thanked Hurley for standing by him in his darkest times. In 2016, he said that he would not have known how to cope with Richie Sambora's departure from the band without his wife.

"It's about never lying about having been a saint, but not being a fool enough to f- up the home life, either," he said.

Earlier this week, Bon Jovi described the experience of "growing together with Dorothea" to be "magic," but conceded that "everyday is a challenge and a change."

In 1993, Bon Jovi sang of his infidelity in "Bed of Roses," which appeared on Bon Jovi's fifth album, Keep the Faith.

"And some blonde gave me nightmares/I think that she's still in my bed," sings the rock star. In a final verse, he further highlights his bad behavior: "Now as you close your eyes know I'll be thinking about you/While my mistress she calls me/To stand in her spotlight again."

Hurley did not attend the premiere of Bon Jovi's documentary, Thank You Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story. Her absence was attributed to her having COVID-19.
