As Sam Smith savored the evening, little did they know their night would take an unexpected turn.

On Monday, May 6, Smith, whose pronouns are they/them, walked down the Met Gala red carpet accompanied by Christian Cowan, their partner. The duo sported matching custom-made black and white suits by Christian, showcasing their impeccable style.

Utilizing a single-stemmed sunflower to secure their suits in place, Smith donned the elegant black ensemble paired with a tulle skirt and a hint of light blue in the tie. Meanwhile, Cowan opted for a pristine white suit, matching trousers, and a touch of gold in the tie. Their romantic journey had dates back to 2023.

Following an event brimming with stylish outfits and an unexpected show by Ariana Grande, famous attendees made their way to various post-event gatherings across the bustling streets of New York City.

According to insider information, the "Stay With Me" hitmaker decided to skip the Macallan event after-party hosted at the Mark Hotel. This was because Smith was not officially invited and wasn't allowed entry.

The source observed that Smith managed the situation gracefully but left feeling a bit bewildered.

Page Six's insider said that Smith was told, "You're not on the list, you can't come in."

The source also said that Smith tried three more times, but no luck, explaining, "They gave them a flat out 'no.' They tried three times."

Undeterred by this setback, Smith was later spotted attending Dua Lipa's gathering at Rob Toma's Hearsay in the vibrant Meatpacking District and other festive gatherings.

Reportedly, Smith and Cowan were the life of the party, igniting the dance floor with their energy. Rejection is a common occurrence in social settings.

In a past incident, Kylie Jenner was denied entry to Richie Akiva, Doja Cat, and Diddy's event at the Box as it had already reached total capacity.

The couple's relationship took center stage in the headlines following the recent Met Gale event. Cowan revealed to Ashley Graham and Gwendoline Christie, the red carpet hosts for Vogue, that the fashion of the 1940s inspired their couple Met Gala attire.

Cowen said during that time, "Because it's supposed to be about back in time, we wanted to reference the 1940s, Oscar Wilde - a queer icon. We're both queer and British, so an English rose, I thought, was perfect. And early on in our days, I gave Sam a metal plated rose."
