Coachella has proved to be dangerous territory for some artists.

While the desert-based music festival is known for its lavish parties and groundbreaking music sets, some artists did not leave without an injury - with others not even getting there at all.

Kid Cudi was forced to cancel his upcoming Insano world tour after he injured himself at Coachella this year. The rapper took to Instagram this week to share a look at his new boot, which is treating his broken calcaneus.

The injury came after the "Down & Out" jumped down off the stage during this year's festival, Billboard reports. The calcaneus that was injured is that bone that forms the heel. Since the wound made it difficult for him to walk, Cudder was forced to cancel all of his upcoming performances.

"Guys, so, I have a broken calcaneus. I'm headed to surgery now and there's gonna be a long recovery time," he wrote when announcing the cancellation. "We have to cancel the tour so I can focus on getting back out there in top shape to rage with you all. There's just no way I can bounce back in time to give 100%. The injury is much more serious than I thought."

A more infamous injury occurred in 2023, when Frank Ocean pulled out of the second weekend due to a leg injury. After what he calls a "chaotic" first show, the singer pulled out of his second performance, with Blink-182 stepping in as the new headliners.

His headlining set during the first weekend was his first live performance in six years. After the decision to not livestream the performance angered fans, Ocean started the set over an hour later than scheduled.

Once onstage, he left out several of his hit songs from his show and only mimed along to a vocal track of the songs he did play. When the show was cut off after going over curfew, Ocean simply walked offstage and told fans it was over.

He has stated that creative differences and difficulties led to the performance malfunctions, The Guardian reports that his leg injury kept him from returning for the next weekend.

Tyla also had to pull out of Coachella this year after "silently" suffering from an injury over the past year. Leading up to the 2024 event, the 22-year-old singer said she was "heartbroken" that she had to cancel her set, The Hollywood Reporter says.

"For the past year, I've been silently suffering with an injury that has tragically worsened," the "Water" singer wrote. "I've seen doctors and specialists with high hopes, but the pain has only become more agonizing, as has the severity of the situation."

A 2023 Coachella set ended in chaos when an acrobat plummeted to the ground while performing during a DJ set. Five minutes into her performance, the dancer lost her grip while hanging on to a sheet. As she unraveled herself, she fell to the ground. Paramedics quickly rushed her away, the New York Post reveals.

Although not an artist, a similar incident occurred in 2018 when a worker fell to his death while erecting the stage for a show. His identity was never specified, but he had been referred to as "lead rigger."
