Taylor Swift's Portugal concerts are off to a rocky start when the entrance lines did not move as swiftly as expected.

As the Eras Tour landed at Lisbon's Da Luz Stadium on Friday, 64,642 fans were all ready to see the Grammy-winner on her blockbuster world tour. However, long lines and lengthy security checkpoints led the first show to have a delayed start time.

The show, Swift's first-ever performance in the country, started late when security was allegedly taking too long checking people in. It was originally announced that water bottles were not permitted into the venue. However, multiple Swiftie fan pages were able to get the stadium to reverse their decision, following the dangerous Brazil concerts that led to the tragic death of a young audience member.

Now, as small water bottles were permitted, fans were still struggling to get into the concert. Paramore started their opening act set later than unusual, with thousands of fans still waiting outside while they performed. As time was running out before the "Cruel Summer" singer hit the stage, fans began to stress.

"I'm just sad," says Noelle Vavuris in a TikTok. "I've spent thousands and thousands of dollars to see Taylor. Please. I just want to be inside ... We've been waiting in line for an hour and a half and we just got all the way to the stadium and then got sent all the way outside."

She goes on to say that the audiences were being treated like "herded cattle," describing the scene as "absolute chaos."

"There was a massive bottleneck at the security checkpoint to get rid of water bottles," another fan said. "And then people were jumping over the barricade, pulling them apart. We stood behind a post."

The show was slated to begin at 6 p.m., USA Today reports. However, Paramore did not come on until an hour later when the stadium was allegedly only a little over half full. Although water bottles were allowed, there seemed to have been some sort of miscommunication among venue staff. Some guards were allowing water bottles while others were not.

However, after a late start time, all of the fans were seated by the time Swift arrived. When she began the show with her Lover set, she made no mention of the chaos outside but still welcomed the fans to her show.

"This is my first time getting to come to Portugal, and this is how you welcome us," Swift said at the top of the show. "When I first walked out in the show and I looked out and saw the crowd, you took my breath away. My heart was beating so fast. You just made me feel so loved. Thank you so much."

Fans ended up being allowed to carry small water bottles, as well as cups to refill their water amid rising temperatures.
