Kacey Musgraves blew critics away with her debut album Same Trailer Different Park. The effort peaked at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and won a Grammy Award for best country album. In a new interview with The Tennessean, the country singer announces she's about to begin work on the follow-up to her debut and will be teaming up once more with songwriters and co-producers Luke Laird and Shane McAnally, who were instrumental in shaping her first record.

Musgraves has been on tour most of the summer and has dates that continue into the fall, so she has found it hard to write while on the road.

"I've written a little," said Musgraves. "I almost feel like I'm in a bubble sometimes, and every day is different. It's very hard. But I've written some songs that I'm very excited about so far, but nothing has taken shape yet."

However, she told the Tennessean that she plans to get serious about writing new music after everything settles down a bit, around October. She will then assemble a team of people she is most comfortable working with and travel back to a remote spot in her native Texas to start working.

"We'll just clear our heads and write and see what happens," she said.

With the success of her debut comes the added pressure of delivering quality work on her second effort. But she's ready for that challenge.

"I'm going to go with my gut and make it about the songs," she said. "They say you have your whole life to write your first record and influence that, and this time there's not as much time there for me to be able to do that. I just need to focus on that I've found my stride and I'm doing something that makes sense to me. I'm just going to keep doing that."
