Is anyone really surprised to learn that domestic violence charges exist even behind the scenes in the NFL? Probably not. Just last year the Minnesota Vikings had another issue to try and keep under wraps. The teams' co-owner is David Mandelbaum, a real-estate mogul by day who has a son named Michael Mandelbaum, an attorney. Apparently just last year Michael was in the midst of a rough divorce from his wife, Debra Mandelbaum, when things got heated and she fell down a flight of stairs. After regaining consciousness, Debra told paramedics that a physical scuffle led to her tumble.

A restraining order was issued against Michael and he later entered a pretrial program that upon completion would lead to the charge against him being dropped. That's exactly the same deal that Ray Rice got after knocking Janay Palmer out with one punch in an Atlantic City elevator. The Wall Street Journal reported on Michael's messy personal situation this week and it leads many fans to wonder just how much violence exists behind the scenes within the NFL.

This case proves that it's not only limited to the players but that even some of the men in suits making bigger decisions are just as guilty as the likes of Ray Rice or Adrian Peterson. Perhaps this is exactly why Commissioner Roger Goodell announced during his press conference late last week that everyone in the organization will have to go through domestic violence awareness training of some kind. Do you think it's just a coincidence that another story has come to light? Or is it that the organization itself is providing some of the leaks now because when the press unearths something it seems to be particularly devastating for them to handle?
