Fans of the first season of True Detective have been itching for any confirmation of new cast members for season two and finally there is actually news. A multitude of names have been circulating and Colin Farrell has confirmed that he will most definitely be a part of the second season. Farrell is one of those guys whose former party boy reputation sort of proceeds him but once he gets into a role his acting chops often shock people.

The actor confirmed that he will join the cast in a recent interview saying:

"I'm doing the second series. I'm so excited. I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but we're shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids."

Now that we know that Farrell is in the question of who will join him remains. Both Taylor Kitsch and Vince Vaughn have been rumored to be in the cast and as for the female lead, the short list of actresses' contains no less than seven names on it including the likes of Elisabeth Moss and Rachel McAdams. Interestingly enough Jessica Biel was once mentioned but once Farrell was inked her name seemed to no longer be connected to this project. She starred with Farrell once before and their lack of chemistry helped the film to tank.

Season one of True Detective received critical acclaim after just a handful of well-crafted episodes. No doubt the powers-that-be are trying to recreate the same sort of magic in the upcoming season. Who do you think should be cast opposite Farrell? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
