"The show feels like a great big sing-along most nights so I'm looking forward to singing along with the people of the UK again!" the statement read.

The singer received the Lifetime Achievement Award at this June's BET Awards — but the trophy spelled his name incorrectly.

Instead of getting peeved, Richie laughed it off.

"The funny thing about this award tonight is exactly 35, 40 years ago when I started writing these crazy songs, I must tell you the words tonight, these are all the songs they told me would ruin my career: 'Sail On', you're out of your mind. 'All Night Long', what the heck are you doing?"
