According to a tweet sent out by Staples on Sept. 16, the reason for the album's delayed release had to do with sampling issues. You can check out that tweet right here:

Hell Can Wait will be the 21-year-old rapper’s first EP, as well as his debut on Def Jam records. It will be his second release of 2014, following his Shyne Coldchain Vol. 2 mixtape from March. Two singles have been shared so far from Hell Can Wait: “Blue Suede” and “Hands Up.”

The EP will feature production from No I.D., Infamous, and Hagler, and will include guest spots from Aston Matthews and Teyana Taylor. “Besides that, it’s just me,” Staples told XXL. “I’m not for the features for the sake of features. I want it to really fit and align well with the project.”

“It’s all about growth and progression,” Staples went on to say about Hell Can Wait, “That’s all I can tell people about it. It’s a reflection of where I’m at right now.”
