John Mayer took the world by storm with his early career releases "No Such Thing" and "Your Body Is A Wonderland," but it looks like the guitarist had a music career in his sights ever since the age of 13. At least, that's what he posted to Instagram just yesterday.

Mayer uploaded a #tbt photograph of himself from the year 1995 when he graduated high school. According to his post, new grads were being interviewed by the local paper about where their futures may lead them.

It seems that even back then the Paradise Valley singer knew exactly what he was doing. The paper, on the other hand, didn't quite agree.

Check out the picture below:

The throwback photo shows Mayer looking pretty much like he does now ... but nearly 20 years younger, of course. It features the caption: #tbt 1995... My local newspaper interviewing recent HS graduates. Keep in mind, fellow dreamers, this ran in the "and some kids don't have any plans at all."

We're curious what the writers and editors of the guitarist's local paper have to say today. Our guess is probably a big, fat "Whoops!"

Mayer's career has been a steady streamline of success, even during his dark days when he's had some not-so-great things to say about a number of people. Despite that side of him, the guitarist proves time and time again to be one of the most talented and retrospective singer-songwriters around today. And, of course, a hell of a guitar player!

Most recently, the musician can be heard on Barbra Streisand's duets album Partners.
