A pregnant Alicia Keys stopped by The View yesterday to promote her new single "We Are Here," and the movement behind the song, called the We Are Here Movement. She also revealed during her chat with Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O'Donnell, Rosie Perez, and Nicole Wallace that her second child is due December 31, in time for the New Year.

Keys spoke about how becoming a mother impacted her decision to start the We Are Here Movement, which allows people to donate to charities to devoted to various issues including poverty, gender discrimination, racial injustice, women in need, youth suicide, gun violence, education for African girls, healthcare, AIDS, the war on children, and LGBTQ youth suicide.

"Being a mother has definitely given me more of a fierceness and understanding of what I believe in that much more," she said.

"We Are Here started because a friend of mine asked me a question, 'Why are you here? It was such a profound question to me, and I started to throw that question at everybody I passed by. I realized when you ask that question and answer that question, you can actually begin to live the answer and the reason. So that was really powerful."

Her song was inspired by recent events including the shootings of Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown, the conflict in the Middle East, and inequalities women and LGBTQ people face.

"It's a movement of the people so that we can gather our leaders and demand the change that we want to see."

Over the weekend, she brought out Israeli and Palestinian musicians to perform "We Are Here" with her at the Global Citizen Festival in New York's Central Park.

"My generation, we want peace, and we want to be able to move forward and [forgive]," she explained. "So this was really the embodiment of that. It was beautiful."

Keys also recently posed naked with a peace sign on her belly to promote the message and encourages others to sign up at WeAreHereMovement.com
