In a new interview with Spin, 1990s hip-hop veteran Coolio gave his 2 cents about a pretty unlikely subject: the death of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.

While discussing various songs and artists from 1994, including 2Pac, R. Kelly and Björk, Coolio discussed how he felt when he heard Cobain had died in April '94, and lamented the fact that they had never worked together. He also weighed in on Cobain's heroin abuse, taking an unusual stance on it.

"I happened to be watching MTV and it came over the wire. And I was like, 'Well, damn,'" Coolio tells Spin about his reaction to Cobain's death. "I was mad at Kurt, like, 'Why you gotta do that before I do a song with you?' I was mad at his people. They didn't see that s--- coming? C'mon!"

Coolio then seems to suggest that Cobain would still be alive if he had not been shamed by his heroin abuse.

"Put the m----------- on Thorazine, dose him up so he can stay alive," he says. "You know, people who do drugs get so pressured by people who don't that they get depressed. Society and their families make them feel like s--- about their habits. A lot of times they're not hurting nobody. They don't go out and cause trouble. They don't miss work."

Coolio then went on to briefly discuss his own drug habits, saying, "I've had my ups and downs with that. I'm not on drugs right now, but I'm not gonna sit here and say I won't ever do drugs. I'll never do cocaine again ... but I haven't tried everything."

Later in the interview, Coolio also had some interesting things to say about R. Kelly and Insane Clown Posse, even declaring himself a Juggalo.
