Fans of ABC's Mistresses got both good and bad news delivered almost all at once this week. First they learned that the nighttime sudser has been renewed for a third season but then its leading lady, Alyssa Milano confirmed that she will not be returning to the show. Milano's character, Savi Davis, is kind of the centerpiece to the show and the actress made it very clear that she isn't leaving by choice.

"After two wonderful seasons in Los Angeles, the studio has decided to shoot Season 3 of Mistresses in Vancouver, Canada for financial reasons. It's with a heavy heart that I have decided that I can't relocate. I have two babies under 4. Being a mother and wife comes first, and I just can not uproot my children and separate the family by moving away. I will miss this job desperately and wish everyone the absolute best."

In other words, Milano is choosing her husband and children over her current acting gig, which is kind of a refreshing change in Hollywood, don't you think? Rather than trying to work out the logistics and agreeing to either see her family far less or else uproot them all, she is choosing instead to leave a job that she seems to love. There's no word yet on how Milano's exit from the show will be explained or how other characters might benefit from it.

Milano has been a television regular since her days as a child on Who's The Boss. You've also seen her on Melrose Place, Charmed and in a bunch of made-for-television films so there's little doubt that she'll pop up somewhere else relatively soon. Milano just gave birth to her second child in early September, do you guys support her decision to make her babies and husband her top priority?
