German house DJ and producer Zedd kicked off his American tour in Boston at the House of Blues on Tuesday night. Although the event was reportedly a blast, the story at the end of the night was a tragic one. One concertgoer died and two more were transported to a local hospital as the result of drug overdoses.

Police reported that a woman was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the other two individuals were listed in serious condition. Although no foul play is suspected, homicide detectives are investigating. According to the police, none of the victims knew each other.

Zedd had another show at the House of Blues Wednesday, but the artist tweeted at around 3:30 that the show had been cancelled in light of the previous night's events. House of Blues spokesman Jay Anderson gave a statement on behalf of the venue. "Last evening, there were guests at our venue in need of medical treatment during the performance," he said. "They were assisted by Boston EMS as well as on-site emergency medical personnel and then transported to local medical facilities. One individual has unfortunately passed away and our thoughts go out to their family and friends for their loss. This matter is under investigation and we are continuing to work with local officials."

The use of drugs is prevalent among fans of a plethora of genres, but electronic music is often more problematic because of the popularity of hallucinogens, including potentially dangerous substances such as ecstasy. Zedd took to Twitter to warn his fans to be careful on the dance floor.

We agree with the producer entirely. Dance, get rowdy, but please be smart when you do it.
