After announcing their separation earlier this year, Paula Patton has filed for divorce from Robin Thicke. This news comes just weeks after the singer revealed his drug addiction and admitted to stealing songwriting credits.

According to Billboard, (via TMZ), Patton's filing includes joint custody over the couple's 4-year-old son, Julian. The paperwork reportedly cites "irreconcilable differences" as a cause.

"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," she said in a statement to People Magazine back in February.

The two met when Thicke was 14 years old. They married in 2005 and had their son in April 2010.

Their separation was reportedly brought on by rumors of the "Blurred Lines" singer's infidelity and photos with other women. Thicke's album released in June, titled Paula, was dedicated to Patton when their romantic troubles came to head.

Aside from his relationship woes, Thicke has also been dealing with the lawsuit between Marvin Gaye's family over copyright infringement for his collaboration with Pharrell and T.I., in addition to some other personal issues. Transcripts of Thicke's and Pharrell's depositions were released, complete with admissions of drug abuse and lying on the part of Thicke regarding the song's writing process.

Thicke admits to being high and drunk for both the recording of "Blurred Lines" and much of its 2013 promotion, leading him to lie to the media and claim writing credits when he really had none.

"After making six albums that I wrote and produced myself, the biggest hit of my career was written and produced by someone else and I was jealous and I wanted some of the credit," he said.

He claims he was "high on Vicodin."
