In the midst of rumors of infidelity and new tattoos, Nick Cannon is once again speaking out about his separation from the elusive chanteuse herself, Mariah Carey. At the premiere of the new movie Addicted, Cannon discussed his feelings, his children "Dem Babies" and how often he and his now ex keep in touch.

In a new interview with Extra, Cannon opened up about how he's doing these days in the wake of his high profile split... and he's just inching along like anybody else. "Man, I'm just taking everything one day at a time, and just being the best person that I can possibly be at the end of the day," he said.

Cannon was also candid about how painful the split has been, especially on his body. Earlier this week, the actor was spotted with some new ink on his back, covering up the massive "Mariah" tattoo he once sported across his shoulder blades. The massive crucifix piece appeared to be unfinished, and Cannon was insistent that he wasn't done with the new body art and that he wasn't intending on unveiling it to the world yet.

"It wasn't supposed to be revealed yet. I was on private property!" he said. "I didn't know they were there, that's how sneaky paparazzi are. I was in the privacy of my own area."

He also touched upon how his separation has affected his children, Moroccan and Monroe, and he said they were doing well, even if he hasn't seen them in a few weeks. "They're on the road right now with mommy. They're having a good time - it's all love, man."

Cannon was also dismissive of rumors surrounding his split from Carey, stating that he still has a lot of love for his ex-wife and that they are in "constant contact."

"At the end of the day, the media likes to dictate especially when they don't have information they like to create stories, whether it's about her and I. I just wish her nothing but the best," he said. "We're in contact constantly, you know, you might have an off night here or there. But, she's one of the greatest performers and entertainers of our time. She's not worried, we're not worried. We're just going to keep pushing."

Cannon and Carey separated in August.
