With news of a potential farewell tour reaching the public yesterday, another nugget from The Who slipped through the cracks.

Earlier this week, Roger Daltrey revealed that a full album of new material would accompany the single "Be Lucky."

"The Who have got a new record out," Daltrey told The Daily Mirror. "It's 50 years on and we have passed the audition. We've done one song and we are going to do a whole album. It's exciting."

Now fans might be hearing some fresh tunes mixed in with the chart-toppers during next year's The Who Hits 50! Tour.

According to a press release (via JamBase): "Setlists on these shows will take their audience on an amazing journey through The Who's entire career, from the band's early days to classic albums through the present day."

Guitarist Pete Townshend and lead singer Daltrey are the only original members still in the band.

Last year The Guardian reported that 2015 would mark the final year of touring for the band. But there appears to be some confusion as to the band's intentions to carry on past then.

"The end of this year [2013] is our 50th anniversary, just like the [Rolling] Stones," Daltrey said in the same story. "They're on the road again — we could have never out-Stoned the Stones. Are we going to do one more 'something' or do we just retire, gracefully? Or disgracefully. I don't know. Or do you just say, 'Thank you very much,' to a great night? I think that's tragic in music — I don't think you should ever say, 'This is the last time'. Music isn't like that."
