Taylor Swift made the move to New York, and now she is trying to "kidnap" Selena Gomez away from the West Coast.

"She wants to kidnap me," Gomez told Ellen DeGeneres via Billboard. "She's been begging me every time we get on the phone to move to New York, 'cause it's been a really good thing for her. You know, we've been friends for seven years and she really feels like she kind of stepped into her own and became a woman there, and she's like, 'All right, your turn!'"

Gomez, a former child star on The Disney Channel, pointed out that she is still trying to nail down an identity at the age of 22.

"This year's been — I have been doing this so long that people tend to forget — they're like, 'Be yourself, be yourself,' and I'm still trying to figure out who that is," she said. "I know I'm not perfect, but I know I have a lot of people that support me and love me, and I don't want to let anyone down, so I try to be the best I can be."

Gomez jumped ship from Hollywood Records last month to join John Janick and Interscope.

According to Hits, Gomez might still be releasing a greatest hits package from her seven years with Hollywood before 2014 is over. During her time there, she sold 2.8 million albums and 18.1 million tracks to go along with 1.7 billion YouTube views.

Her first solo album, 2013's Stars Dance, resulted in her first No. 1 chart debut and featured the No. 1 song "Come & Get It," which has sold more than 2 million copies.
