It has been more than a week since Miley Cyrus' infamous VMA performance. The buzz over her twerk-a-thon has died down for the most part, and the Interwebs have returned to a more normal distribution of celebrity gossip.

Now that the singer has had time to "process" her performance, she explains her reasoning in a video clip sent to MTV News. The clip is part of MTV's upcoming Miley Cyrus documentary.

In it she says, "I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? You know now. You know what's happened. Madonna's done it. Britney's done it. Anyone that performs, that's what you're looking for - you're wanting to make history. Me and Robin the whole time said, 'You know we're about to make history right now.'"

It would appear that the media has analyzed the event much more than Cyrus herself has.

"What's amazing I think now, we are [nine] days later and people are still talking about it. They're over thinking it. You're thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like I didn't even think about it 'cause that's just me."

A further explanation of the events leading up to her performance might be illuminated in her upcoming documentary, due out this fall.

According to MTV News, the hour-long film chronicles Cyrus' transformation over the past few years as well as the making of her upcoming album.

What do you think of her explanation? Do you think Cyrus got what she wanted?
