One Direction is making its tender-hearted lead FOUR single "Steal My Girl" even more personal sounding. Today (Oct. 14), 1D released the acoustic version of its '80s-channeling song, stripping away the bombastic drums and pumping up that piano.

The acoustic version of "Steal My Girl" doesn't deviate too much from the song's original state. Instead of opting to focus on the mega-production and blasting music, the drums, additional guitars and some of the production layers were taken out of the mix, clearing the way for the boys' own vocals and the simplistic (yet still epic) power piano chords.

Though Directioners largely seem disappointed in "Steal My Girl" acoustic, calling out the song for not being fully acoustic on Twitter and in YouTube comments, there's one thing that's for sure: the vocals are truly the star on this new version. Near the end of the song, Zayn Malik's runs and high notes truly come to the forefront, stealing this song away.

So, even if this is really just a different production mix, it still works out.

"Steal My Girl" is the lead single from One Direction's upcoming fourth studio album FOUR, which is due to be released on Nov. 17. In addition to releasing an acoustic version of the song, 1D are also hard at work on the "Steal My Girl" music video, which they teased late last week on Twitter with Danny DeVito.
