In the most dramatic hip-hop name change of 2013, Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy, sorry, Jeezy announced that he would now simply go by "Jeezy."

The rapper was on MTV's "Sway" program when host Sway referred to him by the title that he had used since his 2005 debut LP. Jeezy interrupted to declare that he had decided to drop the "Young."

"It's Jeezy now," he said. "I'm grown now. I did enough of that. It sounds good because when I came into the game, that's what I was and that was my state of mind. But I'm a grown man now. Jeezy. It's all good. We got a little older now."

The decision shows an admirable acceptance of reality from Jeezy. Although he's only 35 years old, the rapper is comfortable with his age and not afraid to acknowledge he's not as young as he once was. Or Maybe he just got tired of being confused with the slew of other rappers who adopted the "young/yung" moniker following him, including Young Joc, Young Dro, Young Buck, and our favorite: Yung Humma. At least the title is less abused than the prefix "Lil."

Jeezy may have also had a moment of sudden maturation during the interview, as he was discussing being complimented by Barack Obama, probably for his song "My President Is Black," which became a sensation immediately following Obama's 2008 election.

Admittedly, 2013 hasn't been too exciting in terms of rappers changing their names. Jay Z threw some journalists (ourselves included) off their game when he dropped the hyphen from his name in July, but that's about it. 2012 was a much better year for name changes, including Snoop Dogg's transformation into the Rastafari Snoop Lion.
