Aretha Franklin recently did a round of interviews to promote her latest release Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics. Things got a little awkward as Franklin joined various outlets via satellite. Looks like she may have lost the chance to redeem herself after Whitney Houston's mother forgot the lyrics while singing backup at a performance for the Late Show.

A collection of clips from the interviews, held with local and cable stations, hit the net showing Franklin dealing with technical delays, a malfunctioning earpiece and other difficulties, including lack of sleep.

Franklin admitted to one interviewer that she only had "four hours sleep, so I'm a little slow."

Check out highlights from the interviews here.

"I haven't felt so up on a CD since Jump to It [was released in 1982] or the first time one of my records was played on the radio," she told Billboard. "I don't think I have ever been as excited as I am now."

The "Queen of Soul" released her cover of Adele's Grammy-winning 21 single from her new album, Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics earlier this month.

As previously reported, Franklin will also cover Etta James, Alicia Keys, Gloria Gaynor, Barbra Streisand and Chaka Khan, among others.

The album is being produced by Andre 3000, who recently spoke about working on the project with NPR.

The OutKast rapper said he chose the Prince song "Nothing Compares 2 U," which was made famous by Sinead O'Connor, for the album.

"It's a completely different take on the song," he said. "It doesn't sound like the Prince version. It doesn't sound like the Sinead O'Connor version, either. It's Aretha in a different element, but something she's familiar with. But it was really, really fun doing it. And just to hear her use her voice like this instrument. She just came in the studio and really just knocked it out in about an hour."

Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics is set to be released Oct. 21.
