Alan Jackson is getting ready for his 25th anniversary in the music biz with a big tour that will kick off next year.

Jackson will start his lengthy trek across the U.S. in Fort Myers, Florida, Jan. 8 and will play shows until May 17, when he shuts things down in Denver, Colorado, at Red Rocks — see dates below. The country star spoke to People recently about his anniversary.

"I have fans who have been coming to my shows for 25 years, I meet them and they'll pull out a picture they took of me 25 years ago!" he said. "This is a way to make it new — put together something special that pulls together those 25 years. Some people don't like to talk about how many years they've been around — it makes them feel old. I'm proud of it and glad to do it."

Newcomers Jon Pardi and Brandy Clark will serve as opening acts.

Jackson also said a new album is in the works for early 2015. His last effort was 2013's The Bluegrass Album, which was Jackson's first try at the genre.
