Although the recent ads for Skechers' Relaxed Fit shoe line have featured sports legends such as Joe Namath, Joe Montana, and Pete Rose, the company has decided to take a more musical direction by recruiting none other than Ringo Starr to appear in their ad campaign. Radio.com reports that the former Beatle is set to appear in Skechers ads starting next spring.

"We are incredibly excited to be working with such an amazing world-renowned artist as Ringo Starr," said Skechers president Michael Greenberg in a press release (via The Hollywood Reporter). "Ringo possesses the charm, cool charisma and instant global recognition that will elevate awareness for our popular Relaxed Fit footwear collection both in the United States and especially around the world."

"Ringo is not only a music icon, but also a style icon," Greenberg continued, "As we move from the sports world to the music world with the campaign, Ringo is the perfect ambassador to illustrate how our comfortable footwear helps keep you relaxed in any situation."

This isn't the first time that Starr has forayed into the fashion industry. He recently collaborated with designer John Varvatos for a T-shirt, the profits for which go towards Starr's Peace & Love Fund for the David Lynch Foundation, which spreads awareness of Transcendental Meditation.

According to Radio.com, Starr is currently working on a new album with the All-Starr Band, which would be his first studio album since 2012's Ringo 2012. He has three concert dates in Florida this week, including one tonight, Oct. 21, in Ft. Lauderdale.
