Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is open about how much the Washington, D.C., punk rock scene in the 1980s shaped him as an artist, and for the next episode of his HBO documentary Sonic Highways, Grohl will be revisiting his hometown. Today (Oct. 21), the "Something From Nothing" band unveiled the episode's trailer and announced a small club show to follow the premiere.

Set to air on Friday (Oct. 24), Sonic Highways' second episode will showcase D.C., and it all seems very near and dear to Grohl's heart.

"If it weren't for Washington, D.C., and the music scene here, I would not be standing up here on the mic right now," Grohl says at the top of the trailer.

Like the premiere episode (which Music Times reviewed), Grohl recounts personal tales from the music scene in D.C. and he seems to be nothing short of geeking out in the 35-second trailer. "These are the heroes of the D.C. punk scene," he says before images of classic rock icons flash on the screen.

Like the Chicago premiere last week and the following club show at the legendary punk outlet Cubby Bear, Foo Fighters will follow up the D.C. episode with an intimate show at Black Cat DC. Tickets, of course, will be hard to come by with sales beginning at 6 p.m. tonight (Oct. 21) and running at a cool $20.

The D.C. episode of Sonich Highways will air on Friday, Oct. 24, at 11 p.m. on HBO.
