One Direction is getting meta. Today (Oct. 24), the boy band released its first music video from FOUR for "Steal My Girl." With the help of Danny DeVito, sumo wrestlers, balloons and a chimp, 1D takes you behind the scenes of a music video for its music video.

Like the lead music video from its last album, "Best Song Ever," One Direction poke fun at outlandish music video concepts in "Steal My Girl." DeVito plays the video's wacky director, who immediately brands the boys of 1D as love (Harry Styles), light (Niall Horan), power (Liam Payne), danger (Louis Tomlinson) and mystery (Zayn Malik). "First we destroy, then we create," DeVito declares before the true video shoot (and music video itself) begins.

The whole thing is nonsensical and incredibly excessive. There are smashed balloons filled with paint, a marching band, a troupe of ballerinas, a small zoo, African dancers and sumo wrestlers, just for a few peeks into the massive scope of this music video.

All the while the boys fight with sumo wrestlers or dance in the rain, DeVito accompanies them, silently and comically instructing them on how to interact. Or, you know, sometimes he's just hanging out with Liam and a chimp.

It's an excessive look into the absurdity of music videos, which once again, absurd and excessive itself.

Meta.
