Hakkasan will be extending its feelers outside of the Las Vegas area with the opening of a revamped nightclub in San Diego, Omnia San Diego. If that sounds familiar, it's because the Hakkasan brand is currently reworking space within Caesar's Palace to also be a nightclub titled Omnia.

It seems that the EDM-centric entertainment company is looking to develop Omnia into a chain of clubs around the country. The San Diego location will move into the former space held by the Stingaree club, which will close for the last time on November 2. According to reports from Dancing Astronaut, the newly announced spot will share similar designs and themes as the original Las Vegas location.

Nick McCabe, the president of Hakkasan, told USA Today that the Omnia brand would be designed as a performance-focused venue, versus one designed to encourage celebrity interactions.

"Now that social media offers us almost unfettered access to celebrities, nightclubs have moved in a different direction and our customers seek valuable experiences in the form of performances," he said. "Omnia will be a very performance-focused venue."

So why didn't the company just decide to stick with its own title for the chain? After all, Hakkasan boasts the most star-studded collection of residencies and performances in North America. Few realize that the club is actually part of the Cantonese restaurant chain Hakkasan, and by "chain" we mean its rated by Michelin (a legitimizing factor for any dining establishment). The company probably doesn't want confused clubgoers to show up at its New York City restaurant expecting a house DJ and high-end tequila.
