Danity Kane may be no longer, but former member Dawn Richard is rising from the ashes of the reformed girl group and taking her momentum into reviving her solo career. Yesterday (Oct. 29), Richard announced that she will be following up her critically acclaimed R&B album Goldenheart with a new album in 2015, Blackheart.

According to an interview with Billboard, Richard will be releasing her sophomore effort Blackheart on Jan. 15, 2015, exactly two years after she dropped her debut LP Goldenheart. The second part of a planned trilogy, Richard noted that the new album will explore new sounds and experiences while still melding with her first record for a "cohesive" story.

"Lyrically and storytelling-wise, it is in the same fashion of Goldenheart," she said. "But I wanted each album to stand on its own, and have a cohesive story. The story in itself is about my journey throughout the music industry, and the love, the hate, the redemption and the whole thing in between."

Blackheart is being led by the intense R&B single "Blow," which sounds neither like anything from Danity Kane's discography nor Richard's previous solo work. The futuristic, deep sounds are highly experimental while still maintaining a modern pop edge. Alongside the deeply funky cut, Richard released a visually striking music video, which features her performing in front of a white screen while wearing a variety of black, white and red outfits, while images of Africa and intense dancing flash upon the screen.

Though Blackheart will be Richard's first solo album in two years, it will be her second release in the span of just a few months. Though a fight in the recording studio led for the reformed Danity Kane to break up earlier this year, the band still released DK3 on Oct. 27.
