The first wave of speakers for the International Music Summit in Singapore has been announced. The inaugural edition of IMS Asia will take place Dec. 11 at the W Singapore, Sentosa Cove to coincide with the big dance festival Zouk Out that will occur Dec. 12 and 13. The speakers, who have been added, include, Richie Hawtin, Steve Angello, IMS co-founder Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold, Damian Lazarus and others as they participate in a variety of different workshops, tutorials and speaker panels, according to Mixmag.

IMS was founded in 2007 when electronic music was struggling as a way to try and find a way forward for the genre. It began in Ibiza, where the largest summit remains today and expanded to Los Angeles in 2012 with a one-day event taking place in April.

IMS Asia is the latest edition, as the summit looks to draw on the rising influence of the growing Asian market in dance music. Several of the speakers are from Hong Kong, Singapore and elsewhere in the region, so the regional perspective will be presented.

According to IMS's website, "International Music Summit is an educational, inspirational and motivational thought leadership platform dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, electronic music, the artistry related to DJing and all related popular art forms, primarily through the presentation of summits and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of the genre to art and culture worldwide."

The summit has yet to release the program schedule for December, but with the panel already assembled, there should be quite an array of opinions and a wealth of knowledge that these disc jockeys, promoters and technologists can impart on an audience.

Stay tuned for more speakers and head to the IMS website to grab a summit badge today.
