Lion-haired indie-folk crooner, Jim James, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night in support of his debut solo album (as Jim James), "Regions of Light and Sound of God." Dressed in a black suit and tie and dancing with his hair blowing in the wind, James sang "State of the Art (A.E.I.O.U)" and "A New Life."

The My Morning Jacket frontman has proven on his tour so far that he is just as powerful as a solo act, and his performance last night was no exception. He was full of energy and seemed to be having a blast, especially on "A New Life," and they crowd went crazy for it.

According to an interview with the Austin Chronicle, the solo "Jim James" project began through him writing the score for a book that he loved called "God's Man."

"I started scoring it to kind of hope to make it into a film, and that's more of a solitary writing thing," he told them. "I look at these new songs and hope to play some of them with My Morning Jacket over the years.

James told Rolling Stone that My Morning Jacket would begin recording a new album starting in October.
