It looks like Clay Aiken has come in second yet again. Yesterday (Nov. 4), the former American Idol contestant and current politician lost his bid for the U.S. Congress. Though he may not be heading to D.C. as the latest musician turned activist, Aiken will be heading to television. His bid for Congress is going to be the topic for a forthcoming Esquire Network docuseries.

According to WRAL, Aiken racked up 41 percent of the vote as the Democratic challenger to incumbent Republican congresswoman, Renee Ellmers, who received an overwhelming 59 percent of the vote in the notably conservative 2nd district in North Carolina.

Ellmers joins the new Republican majority in Congress and ran on a platform of appealing Obamacare and cutting government spending. Meanwhile, Aiken was combatting her experience as a bad thing, promising to bring change to the much maligned House of Representatives.

Though Aiken may have lost his bid for Congress, he has won a bid to appear on national television once again, albeit in a different light than he's used to. Aiken's election season was followed by cameras and will not turn in to a mini-series on Esquire Network, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The yet-to-be titled project has been following Aiken throughout his entire campaign, from his initial running announcement early this year to his loss during last night's midterm elections. The show is expected to showcase how the gay single father and former pop star maneuvered the political world through door-to-door campaigning, strategizing, debates and all the other ins and outs of a campaign.

The show has yet to receive an official air date, though it is slated for the first quarter of 2015.
