No guys, it's not not another new release of Tupac Shakur music. It's an announcement regarding the Tupac Shakur biopic! As in, the long-discussed-but-never-acted-upon plans for a Tupac Shakur biopic. An announcement was made on Thursday by Morgan Creek Productions and Emmet Furla Films stating that the two companies would finance and co-produce the film.

The late rapper's mother, Afeni Shakur, will be the executive producer for the film. Eddie Gonzalez and Jeremy Haft will write the script (for now). The pair haven't been involved with any too large projects yet, as the Los Angeles Times cited them only for their work with "Street Kings II," a straight to video film.

Tupac is one of the most discussed rappers in history, not only for his wordplay but his role in the most notorious hip-hop beef of all time. Although born in Harlem, Shakur's family moved to San Francisco during his high school years. He embraced the change wholeheartedly, becoming the face of the burgeoning East Coast-West Coast hip-hop feud. He would fall victim to a shooting during September 1996.

Christopher "Notorious B.I.G." Wallace, his East Coast counterpart, would be killed six months later in New York City. Wallace was the subject of a biopic during 2009, simply titled "Notorious."

There haven't been any comments on who's being considered for the lead role yet, but if "Notorious"  is any indication, don't expect a big name to take the role (relative newcomer Jamal Woolard).

Shooting is set to begin in Atlanta during 2014.
