The Hunger Games franchise is all about fighting against authority, even if that means standing on your own. And in her new music video for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1's "Yellow Flicker Beat," this is a concept pop star Lorde seems to understand quite well. On the dawn of her 18th birthday, the "Team" singer released the official visual for "Yellow Flicker Beat," and it displays the series' alienation themes perfectly well.

The music video has no linear storyline but instead focuses on Lorde performing solo in a variety of downtrodden locales.

Nearly unrecognizable with her curly hair in a '50s style pompadour, Lorde sits in a crummy motel room, singing on the bed and dancing by herself while a TV searches for a signal in the corner. Lorde can also be singing and dancing wildly alone on an empty, expansive street, in an airplane hangar, in a depressing kitchen and among curtains backstage at a show.

Even when Lorde is among people, she seems alone. In the midst of a '20s themed party, Lorde can be seen eschewing those around her for staring at the camera, emphasizing the alienating themes of the song and of Katniss Everdeen, the Hunger Games heroine who lyrically inspired "Yellow Flicker Beat."
